The Former NASA Chief of Staff Consolidates Support Against Rep. Cory Mills, In Competitive Race That Just Shifted Towards Dalton
Sanford, FL – After launching his campaign to unseat Congressman Cory Mills on November 17, Bale Dalton raised over $340,000 in just six weeks. Dalton, a Navy Captain and former NASA Chief of Staff, closed the year with approximately $300,000 in cash on hand. Congressman Mills, in contrast, reported just $134,000 in cash on hand in his latest filings from September 30th.
Dalton expressed gratitude for his supporters, saying:
“I got into this race because Central Floridians deserve a better option than Congressman Cory Mills. We need a public servant who’s laser-focused on lowering the cost of living, not litigating his numerous ethical allegations. I’m humbled and grateful for the outpouring of support. And as a Navy combat veteran, I’m ready to take on this fight and ensure the people of Central Florida have the representation we deserve.”
Dalton’s announcement comes on the same day that the Cook Political Report released new ratings, noting Congressman Cory Mills’s increasing vulnerability. The former “Solid Republican” ranking has been changed to “Likely Republican.”
ABOUT BALE DALTON:
Bale Dalton is a decorated Navy Captain and former NASA Chief of Staff who has always answered the call to serve America. One of four raised in a hardworking Central Florida family, Bale graduated from the U.S. Naval Academy and has served in the U.S. Navy and Navy Reserve for 23 years. He deployed to Iraq, Afghanistan, the Horn of Africa, and the Pacific, flying Navy helicopters and directing air combat support with Navy SEALs in Afghanistan.
Following active duty, he worked for Senator Bill Nelson, helping Florida veterans access the care and benefits they had earned. After an additional stint on active duty, Bale returned to government service as NASA Chief of Staff. At NASA, he managed 16,500 employees and helped run one of the federal government’s most effective agencies.
After a lifetime of service, Bale is now running against Congressman Cory Mills in Florida’s 7th Congressional District. Mills is under investigation by the House Ethics Committee for sexual misconduct, dating violence, and for improperly profiting from arms sales in government contracts. In October, a Florida judge issued a restraining order against Cory Mills, to protect his ex-girlfriend from blackmail and intimidation.
