Sanford, FL – Today, the U.S. war in Iran reached its six-month mark. Bale Dalton, a Navy combat veteran and the Democratic nominee in FL-07, issued the following statement regarding the ongoing conflict.
“Today marks six months since the beginning of the war in Iran. A war that has no explained strategy or defined end state. A war in which, yet again, we the American people, are being misled about casualty rates and battle damage assessments. A war in which, yet again, the men and women of our Armed Forces are being put in harm’s way as pawns at the whim of politicians in power. A war in which tens of billions of dollars have been spent and munitions stockpiles depleted to perilous lows. A war that continues to sink our economy, from rising gas prices to fertilizer shortages. A war that has ultimately made us less safe.
I have served in combat in Iraq and Afghanistan and know that our Armed Forces are the best in the world. When our troops are sent into harm’s way, with American taxpayers funding these operations, we are owed a clear plan and achievable end state from political leadership. We don’t have either.
I fought in our Forever Wars. Our troops, their families, and we at home can’t afford another one. It’s past time to put an end to this.”
